Golf groups of 8+ people looking to book a great golf holiday tend to have some specific requirements in terms of looking for extra discounted rates and the perfect resort so that their trip is both easy to organise in advance and easy to run when they are actually away on the holiday.

Price-wise, organisers need to look out for any combination of the following discounts and offers in order to achieve the best deal for your group:
  • Free places from the hotel, golf course or golf resort
  • Percentage-based group discounts from the hotel, golf course or golf resort
  • Upgraded rooms for the group leaders (on request and subject to availability)
  • Special meals and drinks packages available
  • Gala Presentation Dinners at the end of your holiday
  • 1 free place in 8 (pro-rata for groups of more than 8 people) from the golf tour operator
If none of these are available then it’s probably worth looking elsewhere as groups of 8+ people should always generally benefit from some or all of these.  All of the following 5 golf resorts offer at least one of the above criteria, with most offering more than 1 of these discounts and offers, so these are our recommended options:

Precise Resort El Rompido, Huelva, Costa de la Luz *****

The 5 star Precise Resort El Rompido is wonderfully located in a coastal area of tidal flats in the Huelva province of the Costa de la Luz.
With 2 superb on-site championship golf courses the resort is perfect for golf groups due to the real convenience of having excellent accommodation options right alongside the challenging and high quality courses.
Although the venue is admittedly a little isolated when compared to some of the bigger resort towns such as Vilamoura for example, El Rompido really has got the formula right and offers Dinner, B&B as the standard tariff with the option to upgrade to a superb drinks deal (semi-all-inclusive).  And with free return airport transfers from Faro Airport included with 7 night, 5 rounds golf packages it all means that the El Rompido resort is perfect for a group golf holiday.
The leader or organiser really has it easy here as very little extra thought has to go into the arrangements for the group because every detail has already been taken good care of as a standard part of the deal at El Rompido.
In addition to the main 5 star golf resort hotel a 4 star Aparthotel is also available giving golfing groups the option to go for the luxury end of the market at great prices, or to save a few pounds and opt for the space and convenience that the 1 and 2 bedroom apartments can offer.
With the 1st tee for both golf courses being only a 9-iron away from the front door of the hotel it is obvious why the Precise Resort El Rompido ticks almost all the boxes for travelling golf groups of all types and sizes…

Barcelo Montecastillo Golf Resort, Jerez, Cadiz *****

The name “Montecastillo” is well known with many golfers due to the fact that the Jack Nicklaus designed championship golf course was a 5-time venue of the European Tour’s season climax – the Volvo Masters – in the early 2000’s.  So, the pedigree of the golf course is without question, but what is it about Montecastillo that makes it the perfect venue for your golf group?
The castle-like 5 star Barcelo Montecastillo Resort Hotel overlooks the golf course and complements the course perfectly with high quality rooms, food and drink and excellent service from the professional staff team.  Recently fully refurbished, many of the sumptuous bedrooms have balconies or terraces on which to enjoy a quiet evening sundowner whilst watching the late starters coming down the superb final hole from its greatly elevated tee box.
All Inclusive is available which is a great option for group golf breaks, but if your group prefer to eat and drink away from the resort in the evening then the wonderful historic town of Jerez is only a short cab ride away and offers a wide variety of splendid eateries and bars, in addition to the many sherry bodegas dotted around the city for your enjoyment!
However, the main draw for group golf holidays here at Montecastillo is that free golf is available with all bookings (tee times after 1200), so whether you just book for 1 night or for 21 nights everyone is entitled to enjoy playing golf here at Montecastillo!

Islantilla Golf Resort, Huelva, Costa de la Luz ****

By now you have probably realised that the common thread for our recommended golf resorts for groups is having the golf course on-site with the accommodation and the Islantilla Golf Resort is no different!
This excellent golf resort sits above the coastal strip of other hotels and tourist facilities overlooking the beach at La Antilla in the Huelva province of the far south-west of Spain – the Costa de la Luz – and offers low prices, high standards and great service to golf groups of all types.
A very good 4 star hotel with spacious and comfortable rooms, Islantilla is a firm favourite with many travelling golfers as it offers that “home-away-from-home” kind of feeling that is not easy to find, and it is because of this that Islantilla has a large number of loyal repeat clients – some of whom have been visiting 2 or 3 times a year for almost 20 years now!
Admittedly, the 27 holes of the on-site Islantilla Golf Club may not be to everyone’s liking simply because of how tight it is in some places, but if you can forgive this and still enjoy your golf most groups are certain to find Islantilla a great venue for a very straightforward group golfing destination.
With Half Board the standard meal tariff and drinks options also available, the combination of a good hotel, 27 holes of golf on-site and great service plus low prices all year round means that the Islantilla Golf Resort is hard to beat!

Iberostar Royal Andalus **** and Iberostar Andalucia Playa *****, Cadiz, Costa de la Luz

Similar to El Rompido in that 2 hotel options are available, the Iberostar Golf Resort in the Cadiz beach resort town of Chiclana offers superb accommodation choices with the added bonus of three 18-hole courses included in the stay and play packages so well suited to travelling golf groups.
With both Half Board and All Inclusive options available, the 2 Iberostar hotels can cater for all requirements and budgets, and they both occupy wonderful beachfront locations overlooking the la Barossa beach which offers mile after mile of soft sands.  Both hotels have been recently refurbished to offer all modern comforts and amenities and the ever-helpful Iberostar staff teams are always on hand to cater for your every requirement.
But for golf groups it is the offer of 3 golf courses that is the main attraction and the reason why the resort is so easy for the group leaders to tick all the boxes.  With Real Novo Sancti Petri Golf Club A & B courses designed by Seve Ballesteros and the supplementary C (Campano) golf course also thrown into the mix, even the most demanding group of travelling golfers are sure to find the Novo Sancti Petri option to be just what they are looking for.
And if the aim of your trip is to improve your game, then the golf academy is among the very best in Spain too!

Hotel Almenara Sotogrande, nr Gibraltar ****

Rounding off our suggested best golf resorts for groups in Spain is the 4 star Hotel Almenara which is located in the exclusive Sotogrande Estate just to the east of Gibraltar.
Whilst the majority of accommodation and golf options in this area are high-end both in terms of quality and price, the Hotel Almenara manages to offer that magic combination of both a great quality golf resort and comparatively low prices!
The hotel features large, comfortable rooms around the low-rise resort in the pine woodlands with the main hub of the hotel being a separate building in the centre of the facility which offers the restaurant, bars and leisure services alongside the separate Almenara Golf Clubhouse.
The 27 holes of the Almenara Golf Club are available at far lower prices than the other golf courses here in the Sotogrande Estate, and the course itself is a real challenge of decent quality with plenty of elevated tees, great water features, fast running greens and secluded holes winding their way through the pine forests too.
This leaves most golf groups with room in their budgets to treat themselves to a round (or 2) at Real Club de Sotogrande, Real Club de Valderrama, La Reserva de Sotogrande or the San Roque Club – all of which neighbour Almenara in this true Spanish golfing hotspot!
So, that completes our 5 top recommendations for a group golfing holiday in Spain.  All of the above are really well suited for groups of all sizes, but they all are easy to organise as the main common feature is simply the convenience of great hotels with on-site golf courses!
