The north east is society and group territory. It is not links country, and it does not pretend to be, but for a party that wants everything under one roof at a sensible price it is one of the better value corners of Ireland.
Slieve Russell is the reason to come: a large parkland resort in Cavan with the golf, the hotel, the spa and the bar all on the same site, and PGA National Ireland attached to it. For a group of twelve or twenty that simplicity is worth a great deal.
It also sits well as a stop between Dublin and the north west links, and we often use it that way to break up a longer trip.
