The north west is where golfers go when they have already done the famous ones. The courses are as good, the scenery is bigger, and the tee sheets are far emptier.
Ballyliffin gives you two full links on the northern tip of Donegal, Rosapenna has been quietly building one of the best collections in Europe, and Carne out in Mayo is as raw and dune heavy as golf gets. Westport is the friendlier round in the group, and a sensible day three.
Distances are longer here than in Kerry, so the itinerary matters. We base most groups around Sligo or Letterkenny and build the driving into the plan rather than leaving it to chance.
