Host Golf Course – Eastern Algarve Golf Festival
Castro Marim Golf Club’s 4th hole is included in Jeff Barr’s book “1001 Golf Holes you Must Play Before you Die”.
Castro Marim Golf Club, situated just over the Portuguese border from Spain, has spectacular views of the Algarvian Mountains, the Atlantic Ocean, the Guadiana River and the Castro Marim nature reserve. Perched high on a hillside, the course has been cleverly carved out of the local topography.
This superb course with its lightning greens rewards accurate, rather than long, play from the tee. A great golfing challenge, and if the wind blows…!
The Castro Marim golf course offers 3 nine-hole loops – the “Atlantic“, the “Guadiana” and the “Grouse“.
The castle-style club house has sweeping views over the entire course and the Spanish/Portuguese border and provides a fantastic setting for your 19th hole enjoyment.
The new 9 hole loop (the Grouse Course) at Castro Marim Golf Club opened on the 30th April 2008 and was inaugurated by the Koninginnedag (Queen’s Day) Tournament taking place over the new layout. The par-3 sixth hole features a “beach” of white sand and palm trees around the green. The new, longer 9-hole loop is a worthy addition to the golf offering at Castro Marim and complements the original 18 with sloping, funnel-like fairways, large variations in elevation through the fairways and greens, and spectacular views over the surrounding countryside and down to the coast.
Due to the hilly nature of this course we would recommend the use of a buggy for all but the fittest golfers! Buggies are available for rental on the day of your round at Castro Marim; we can pre-book these for you if you wish – just ask!
