Nestled inland, within the hills of the volcanic landscape of southern Gran Canaria, Salobre Golf offers a game defined by respect for the natural topography of the ravines and the characteristic tranquillity of Maspalomas.
As a result of a meticulous, sustainability and excellence project(2026) focused on premium green quality and respect for local biodiversity, Salobre once again offers a complete 36-hole experience over two 18 hole courses: Salobre Old Course and Salobre New course, consolidating Salobre as the only destination on the island with a true 36-hole offering and solidifying its position as the preferred destination for golfers seeking a variety of technical challenge, great design, and unparalleled mountain and sea views.
These courses require a buggy for all but the fittest (or foolhardy) golfers, the specific challenge being to negotiate the elevation changes as effectively as possible and then to putt well on the excellent quality greens to, hopefully, result in a good score!
Be warned though!, due to their slightly inland location, on warm days when the hot wind from Morocco is blowing, the golf courses here can be significantly warmer than those down on the coast, with temperatures of 40+ degrees and, from our experiences, no wind to offer a light relief. Take plenty of water!
Opened in 1999, the Old Course is the most established course at the Salobre resort and a cornerstone of golf in Gran Canaria. Originally designed by Roland Favré, this 18-hole, Par 71, course boasts a prestigious history, having hosted top-level tournaments such as the PGA of Spain in 2006. More recently, the course has undergone a master renovation plan led by architect David Williams, primarily focusing on sustainability and landscape integration. Seamlessly blending within the surrounding volcanic landscape and arid environment, the course has a ‘desert style’ aesthetic with bunkers and rough areas, offering a perfect balance between technical challenge and efficiency.
Practice facilities including a driving range and putting greens short game areas with practice bunkers. The on-site, 5-star Salobre Hotel Resort and Serenity offers a wealth of wonderful facilities to enhance your golfing holiday in Gran Canaria.
