Santo Antonio Golf & Leisure Resort is set in Budens in the western Algarve, amongst rolling hills, golden beaches, timeless fishing villages and unspoilt countryside, bordering the Costa Vicentin Nature Reserve near Salema and Lagos.
The 18-hole, par 71 Santo Antonio Golf Course presents a parkland challenge, designed by Pepe Gancedo, one of Spain’s most famous course architects, whose philosophy of golf course construction involves minimal alteration to the existing terrain.
This picturesque course measures 5,587 metres from the white tees, with varying holes running along valleys, past eucalyptus covered ravines, flanked by olive, palm and pine trees. The front nine holes here feature dramatic elevation changes with tight, sloping fairways
(Buggies are strongly recommended!) The back nine are more open visually, but trickier around the greens which are well guarded with bunkers and water hazards.
The 18th hole presents a tournament style finish, placed right beneath the Clubhouse. The line is straight over the large pine tree setting up the approach to the elevated amphitheatre green, with the added pressure of an audience.
The driving Range boasts 10 open air and 4 covered practice tees. Next to the range is a practice putting green, one of four around the resort. In addition, there is a short game practice area behind the first tee, incorporating a further putting green, chipping green and bunkers.
With full resort facilities on hand, Santo Antonio Golf & Leisure Resort is an excellent ‘all round’ golf holiday destination.
