The 18-hole, Hacienda Riquelme is one of Murcia’s most exclusive courses, designed by ‘Nicklaus Design’ as part of the original Nicklaus Polaris World group of golf courses.
Located in a naturally beautiful area, nestled between rolling countryside and the Mediterranean coastline with scenic mountain backdrops, the course was created with a high respect for the native flora and fauna with holes winding through olive groves and natural wildflower areas and five prominent lakes coming into play on several holes. One of the most remarkable features of this course is that it is entirely constructed (tees, fairways, roughs, and greens) with seashore Paspalum grass, a type of grass that can withstand temperature changes and irrigation with highly saline water and does not require excessive water resources.
The 6,356 metre, par 72 course is known for its wide fairways, bold contouring and strategic design, combined with water hazards and deep bunkers (some up to 3 metres deep) that create a stimulating challenge for golfers of many abilities. Many greens have multiple tiers and subtle and random contours, which puts a premium on approach strategy and putting skills.
The four sets of tees on every hole make for a challenging yet enjoyable course suitable for a variety of skill levels.
Club facilities include a long driving range with natural turf tees, large putting green and short-game zones. The hacienda-style clubhouse has a restaurant and bar with an outdoor terrace overlooking gardens and the golf course.
Be sure to include the beautiful, fun, yet challenging course at Hacienda Riquelme on your golf holiday in Murcia.
