The Royal Liverpool Golf Course is in the town of Hoylake, on the Wirral Peninsula, Merseyside, with views of the Dee Estuary and Welsh hills in the distance.
Being one of the oldest of all the English seaside clubs, dating back to 1869, the club lies at the very heart of the history and development of golf in Great Britain. The Open Championship has been played Royal Liverpool thirteen times , with notable victories including Tiger Woods (2006) and Rory McIlroy (2014) the most recent being Brian Harman 2023. Along with its championship pedigree, the club has also played a key role in the history of amateur golf.
The 18-hole, par 72 course at Royal Liverpool is a classic seaside links running along the coast, amid sandhills and dunes. The layout mixes flat-looking links fairways with more dramatic coastal holes with winds, sand, costal terrain, deep rough, firm turf and prevalent bunkering delivering a stern, pure links test, rewarding strategic golf with precision over power.
The historic, red-brick clubhouse at The Royal Liverpool dates from 1895 and is a treasure trove of history, housing a rich collection of golf memorabilia, honours boards and relics from the club’s past.
The Spike Bar is the ideal place to prepare for your round of golf or relax afterwards. Here you can enjoy drinks, breakfast bites or a bar snack meal and enjoy the view across the course with the putting green in the foreground. For a more formal meal, the dining room serves lunch and dinner.
Club facilities include a pro shop, full-length driving range, short-game practice area and a large putting green.
A round at the Royal Liverpool Club Hoylake is a complete golfing experience with uplifting beauty, subtle design, the challenge of links golf and a golfing legacy that few courses can match.
