Located on the edge of the picturesque fishing village of Alvor, Pestana Alto Golf Club was an early entrant to the Algarve golf scene and the last course designed by architect Sir Henry Cotton.
It is a classic course with a traditional layout, built across two gentle valleys with winding and rolling fairways and elevated greens offering challenge and playability for all handicap levels and rewarding those who enjoy thinking about their game.
The course features the legendary, 600 metre, par 5 known as the ‘Sir Henry challenge’, one of the longest holes in Europe…and what a challenge it is! A birdie here is so rare that you can get your name recorded at the club
Overall, Pestana Alto is a great golf course, fair, forgiving, and not too punishing, ideal for an opening round on your Portuguese golf holiday.
Practice facilities include a driving range and short game area. The Alto Clubhouse offers a full complement of services and a restaurant and bar with a terrace boasting the most spectacular view to the fairway overlooking the 3rd hole.
