The course at Real Sotogrande Golf Club this was the first European golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr is considered to be one of his favourite masterpieces.
Officially opened in 1964, the course is blessed with his design philosophy, which consists of building courses perfectly integrated with the natural surroundings which are a great challenge to the better players, but accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
Lying only 150 metres from the Mediterranean Sea, the 18 holes, par 72 course enjoys sea breezes, a scenic costal backdrop with an assortment of cork oak, pine, palm and eucalyptus trees.
The variety of holes is another characteristic of Real Sotogrande Golf Club. The layout features long tee shots, wide fairways water hazards and large, fast, well protected, undulating and elevated greens which create the biggest challenge on the course.
In general, Real Sotogrande Golf is a beautiful, varied and well-balanced course requiring accuracy and thoughtful strategy which will provide a serious test for mid- to low handicappers.
