Hillside Golf Club is situated in Southport, the home of England’s Golf Coast which boasts England’s finest stretch of coastal links golf. The club has been a venue for the Open Championship final qualifying rounds on numerous occasions.
The 18-hole, par-72 links course meanders through majestic sand hills and tranquil pine woods with dramatic duneland terrain, undulating fairways, strategic bunkering and greens demanding precise approach play. The ever-present coastal wind adds another dimension to this classic links examination, providing a stern test for even the longest hitters.
The course has a balanced layout in two halves. The, more forgiving, opening holes head along flatter ground beside the railway line providing a more relaxing warming up for the tasks ahead. The dramatic back nine holes lie in valleyed corridors through some of the highest and wildest dunes found anywhere, requiring strategic play and a offering a true links-style challenge. The 11th hole captures what makes Hillside special. Beginning with an elevated tee offering superb views over the dunes, pinewoods and, on a clear day, the hills of the Lake District, it weaves through classic links-style dunes to an exposed, elevated green.
Hillside Golf Club offers history, pedigree, serious architecture and natural beauty providing a classic British Links challenge and an enjoyable and memorable round.
The Clubhouse bar offers breakfast and a range of light meals throughout the day.
