The Algarve without the queues on the first tee.
Most UK golfers stop at Vilamoura. Keep driving east for half an hour and the Algarve changes: pine forest, the Ria Formosa lagoons, empty beaches, and three championship courses that stay in superb condition year round.
The three Quinta courses are the reason to come. Quinta da Ria runs along the edge of the Ria Formosa Natural Park, a par 72 with five lakes and sea views from every point on the course. Quinta de Cima is its tougher sister across the road, doglegs in both directions and a stream that cuts through four holes. Quinta do Vale, twenty minutes further at the Guadiana river, is one of the late Seve Ballesteros’s most distinctive designs: six par 5s, six par 4s and six par 3s.
Praia Verde Boutique Hotel is the base that ties the golf together. Forty south-facing suites in a pine forest above an immense white sand beach at Castro Marim, a Mediterranean restaurant built on local ingredients, and a pool in the trees. It is the kind of quiet, stylish hotel the eastern Algarve does better than anywhere else on the coast.
The same collection covers two other trips entirely. The Patio Suite Hotel at Acoteias, next to Falesia Beach, is spacious apartment accommodation built for golf groups heading to the central Algarve courses. And on the Lisbon coast, the Crowne Plaza Caparica gives you 227 rooms, indoor and outdoor pools, an excellent choice of championship courses nearby, and the capital’s sights and nightlife 15 km away.
Three hotels, three courses, every trip covered.
Pick a base, pick your golf, and we build the package around your dates and group. Every property below is bookable through The Golf Travel People.
