Formby Ladies Golf Club was founded in 1896 as a unique lady only members club, while warmly welcoming both male and female visitors.
Nestling on the same coastal estate as Formby Golf Club, amongst the pine trees and sand dunes, of the Ainsdale National Nature Reserve- a Site of Special Scientific Interest, home to many types of wildlife including red squirrels.
The 18-hole course at the Formby Ladies Club features tight, twisting fairways, undulating dunes and unforgiving heather in a setting which is both links and heathland offering a distinctive and deceptive challenge to visitors touring England’s Golf Coast.
The formidable design of the course rewards accuracy, thoughtful shot-selection and good short-game with power being a lesser priority than finesse and precision.
The par 3, 5th hole encapsulates what Formby Ladies is about. It is a short, but technically demanding hole featuring a plateau green which is well guarded with classic links pot bunkers rewarding accuracy and touch rather than power.
The club facilities include a driving range, putting greens and short-game practice areas. The clubhouse provides day-long hot and cold meals and snacks and, possibly, the best range of home-baked cakes in any golf club!
The Formby Ladies Golf Club offers a, fully enjoyable, experience for a wide range of players from beginners to more experienced golfers looking for a strategic test.
