Overview

Golf Amelkis is one of Marrakech’s most established and respected golf destinations, located just ten minutes from the city centre and overlooking the magnificent Atlas Mountains. Designed by the acclaimed French architect Cabell B. Robinson, the course opened in the mid-1990s and quickly became a favourite among local and visiting golfers for its blend of challenge, scenery and classic Moroccan character.

The resort features a 27-hole layout, divided into three distinct 9-hole loops — Amelkis I, II and III — allowing for varied combinations of play. Each loop presents a different rhythm and strategy, ensuring that no two rounds ever feel the same. The original 18 holes are especially known for their large rolling fairways, elevated greens, dramatic bunkering and strong use of water hazards that add both beauty and precision demands.

Amelkis is set within a landscape of palm trees, desert scrub and red-sand soil, giving it a striking contrast between the lush fairways and the arid Moroccan surroundings. The design focuses on rewarding accuracy over power: many holes feature split fairways, angled doglegs, and heavily contoured greens that require intelligent shot placement. The par-5s, in particular, are memorable — long, sweeping holes framed by dunes and shimmering water hazards that make risk and reward central to every decision.

The resort’s architecture blends seamlessly with its natural setting. The terracotta-coloured clubhouse is built in traditional Moroccan style, with arched terraces, mosaic details and views across the course toward the mountains. The facilities include a driving range, putting greens, pro shop, and restaurant with outdoor dining areas overlooking the 18th green.

Golf Amelkis is often paired with nearby courses such as Royal Golf Marrakech and Al Maaden, forming part of Marrakech’s famed “golf triangle.” However, its distinctive terrain, fairway movement and sense of Moroccan authenticity make it one of the most characterful courses in the region.
