The Golf Travel People's 20th Anniversary Pro-Am will take place at the Monte Rei Golf & Country Club in the Eastern Algarve of Portugal from the 20th - 24th October 2024.

The standard pro-am package is 4 nights with 3 rounds of golf, but extra nights and rounds are of course available if you wish to extend your stay and we can quote for these additionally (supplements will apply). The prize fund will be increased according to additional team subscriptions between 11 and 20. If at 30th April 2024 there are not 10 teams signed up an option will be available to cancel and a full refund given if requested, however we fully anticipate that the event will be fully subscribed to 20 teams by this time. You can choose to wait until April 30th 2024 (or later) to book flights, and at that point in the unlikely event of insufficient team subscriptions and your team having booked flights we will offer a largely similar Stay & Play package at Monte Rei for the exact same dates but without the social and competition elements of the original schedule.

Yes, if you wish to join the event as a single golfer, then you can of course do so. You would then form a team with other individual guests who also do not book a full team onto the event and this will be alongside a golf professional to make a team of 3 amateurs and 1 pro. The price for this option will be 33% of the team price. The tournament director will allocate individual guests into teams.

Yes, this is possible and we will allocate a pro to your team of 3 amateurs. However, the full cost of the 4 person team in this case would be split between the 3 amateurs only.

Yes it is possible to book single occupancy rooms if you wish and this could be done using a 3 bedroom villa or clubhouse residence for your team offering 2 single and 1 twin room option, or you could book 2 x 2-bedroom villas or clubhouse residences if each person in your team requires a single room. Single supplements will of course apply and we can quote for these in addition to the team pricing above.

Professional Competition: The Professionals will compete in a 54-hole individual Stableford competition, played over all 3 rounds. Team Competition: Teams (consisting of 1 Professional and 3 Amateurs) will compete over 54 holes Stableford with the best two scores from the team of four to count on each hole.

The handicap index limit is 28 for men and 36 ladies. This handicap index will be sloped first, then reduced to a 75% allowance. The resulting playing handicap will also be limited to 28 for men and 36 for ladies. The World Handicapping System [WHS] will apply to the tournament and each amateur will play from the applicable playing handicap. Amateur participants must be in possession of a valid handicap certificate. In the event of a tie in the Pro-Am category, prizes will be determined by a card countback based on the scores achieved over the last 18 holes, then 9, 6, 3, and last hole. In the event of Ties in the Pros division there will be a sudden death play-off taking place on Monte Rei golf course straight after play has finished on 23rd October 2024. The event shall be played under The R&A Rules of Golf, as determined by the Chief Referee. Participants consent to the use of their image during the event by the organisers, sponsors, or other partners of the event for promotional purposes, with no right to claim full or partial compensation for that reason. All competitors are required to be at their starting tee 10 minutes prior to their start time. This is to allow the starter to provide pin positions, local rules and additional information to each player. This also ensures that all team members are present and able to start on time. NOTE: Female Professionals will play from a course that is not shorter than 10-14% shorter than the total course yardage of the course played by the male Professionals. The Chief Referee will vary the tees as necessary to ensure the fairness of the holes and the event. The Professional and one amateur will record scores using traditional scorecards. All scores must be finalised at the Tournament Office immediately following play. There will be a Rules Official on the courses at all times to deal with any disputes. If, however, there is no Rules Official present the player may invoke Rule 20.1c(3) (two ball rule). The player must nominate the ball with which he wants to score, should the rules permit, and report the facts to a Tournament Official immediately after the conclusion of play. Failure to do so will result in disqualification.

Yes, we can offer additional rounds of golf at a heavily discounted rate at either Monte Rei or Quinta da Ria on the 20th October if required. Please ask for your special rate for this if required.

Yes, at Monte Rei each golfer has an hour free practice available on the range, short game and putting greens prior to each round with range balls included. At Quinta da Ria, range and short game access is included, however you would need to purchase a token for range balls at the clubhouse.

Yes, airport transfers are included from/to Faro Airport for all pro-am participants. If you arrive at a different airport (i.e. Lisbon or Seville), then we can quote for airport transfers if required. Alternatively, you may wish to rent a car and we can quote for this service if needed.

At Monte Rei, a shuttle service is available from the villas to the first tee. For the round at Quinta da Ria free shuttle services will be available to and from the golf course from Monte Rei on a timetabled basis before and after your round there.

No, any additional off-site transportation requirements will need to be arranged with local taxi providers, Uber or via the Monte Rei guest services department and paid directly by individual clients at the time.
