Best modern Portugal courses
Closer than the Algarve
Portugal’s quietest golf coast.
Silver Coast golf has been growing quietly for fifteen years. Marriott Praia d’el Rey is the resort anchor, with two on-site links courses, two more next door, and the Atlantic coast in every direction.
The Marriott Praia d’el Rey opened on the Atlantic cliffs north of Lisbon in 2000. Five-star resort, suites for groups, multiple pools, beach access directly from the resort. The hotel anchors a wider estate that includes both on-site golf courses.
Praia d’el Rey is the senior course, designed by Cabell Robinson in 1997. Routed along the clifftops with the front nine running inland and the back nine returning to the coast. West Cliffs, designed by Cynthia Dye and opened in 2017, sits next to it as the resort’s second course. Pure links character, exposed bunkering, sea views from most holes. Among Portugal’s best modern courses.
Two more courses sit within fifteen minutes of the resort, making the trip a four-course week. Lisbon is an hour south for a city-break add-on. We build the package around the Marriott as the base, with the round count and courses tailored to your group.
Resort + up to four courses.
Default trip is the Marriott plus rounds on Praia d’el Rey and West Cliffs, with the option to add the two nearby courses.
