Sotogrande has been Spain’s high-end golf address for forty years. The booking lists are long and the courses are full. La Hacienda, twenty minutes west, has the new Fairmont hotel and two on-site courses with much easier access.
The Fairmont La Hacienda opened recently and operates as the most exclusive resort in the area. Pools, spa, three restaurants, plus villa accommodation for larger groups who want self-catering options alongside the main hotel.
The Links course is the headline. Recently re-routed to deliver an authentic links experience on the Atlantic coast: fast running ground, exposed bunkering, year-round playable conditioning. The Heathland course is the companion. Inland, mature trees, calmer character. Two days of golf, two different experiences, on the same resort.
The location helps. Gibraltar airport is twenty minutes south. Sotogrande, with the option to play Real Valderrama, Real Sotogrande, La Reserva and Almenara Alto Club, is fifteen minutes east. The coastal route to Marbella is an hour up the road. La Hacienda works as a base for a wider Costa de la Luz / western Costa del Sol week.
