Most Costa del Sol golf weeks involve a hotel in Marbella or Mijas and a daily forty-minute drive to whichever course you’re playing. La Cala is the version where the resort and the golf are the same site.
La Cala sits in the hills above Mijas Costa, ten minutes inland from the coast. The property has three eighteen-hole courses on the same site: America (the championship layout, hosted European Tour qualifying), Europe (the older, parkland-style course) and Asia (the par-69 short course, walkable in three hours). All three are kept in good condition, all three are bookable from the same desk, and you don’t drive between them.
The accommodation is on the same site. The La Cala Hotel is a four-star resort property with multiple pools, restaurants and a spa. Walk five minutes and you’re on the first tee. For groups of four or more, the apartments and villas on the resort are the alternative: two and three bedroom apartments, plus larger villas with private pools and full kitchens. We tend to put bigger groups in the villas because the self-catering setup works better for early breakfasts and late dinners.
Buggies are included on every round. Practice facilities are good (a full driving range, putting green, short game area). The resort runs its own academy if you want a few hours of coaching during the week. For UK groups wanting a self-contained golf week on the Costa del Sol, this is the simplest answer on the coast.
