Golf Son Antem West is the championship counterpart to the more forgiving East Course at the renowned Son Antem Golf Resort near Llucmajor, in southern Mallorca. Opened in 2001, this 18-hole, par-72 course was designed to provide a sterner test of skill and precision, combining strategic bunkering, tighter fairways, and elevated greens that demand thoughtful shot planning from start to finish.
Set within the same expansive resort estate as Son Antem East, the West Course offers a distinctly different experience. It’s carved through thicker groves of Mediterranean pines and native vegetation, creating narrower corridors and greater contrast between holes. The layout is longer, more undulating, and more technical, with smaller target areas and water hazards that come into play at key points. Players are rewarded for accuracy off the tee and a solid short game, as the greens are fast, well-protected, and subtly contoured.
The front nine weaves through gently rolling terrain, requiring precise positioning, while the back nine introduces elevation changes, long par 4s, and risk-reward opportunities that challenge even advanced players. Several holes feature raised greens with surrounding bunkers and mounding, encouraging creative shot-making and precise distance control.
Scenically, Son Antem West enjoys beautiful views of the Randa mountain range and the surrounding countryside. Its tranquil setting, away from traffic and urban noise, makes for a peaceful round that still carries a competitive edge. Despite its difficulty, the course remains fair — well-structured tee boxes allow all levels of golfer to enjoy the experience.
As part of the wider resort, Son Antem West shares access to outstanding facilities: a large driving range, chipping greens, professional golf academy, pro shop, restaurant and bar with a terrace overlooking the course. The adjacent hotel and spa make the resort a full-service golf destination that caters equally to competitive players and leisure guests.
