Overview

Druids Glen Golf Club, located in the heart of County Wicklow’s stunning countryside, is one of Ireland’s most iconic parkland golf destinations. Known as the “Augusta of Ireland,” Druids Glen is celebrated for its immaculate presentation, vibrant colours, dramatic water features and championship pedigree. The course blends natural beauty and strategic design into a truly memorable golfing experience.

Designed by Pat Ruddy and Tom Craddock, Druids Glen winds gracefully through mature woodland, rolling terrain and beautifully landscaped gardens. Flowering shrubs, tall trees, streams and lakes shape both the strategy and the aesthetics of the course. The signature par-3 12th — surrounded by water and framed by lush planting — is one of the most photographed holes in Irish golf.

The course layout is challenging but fair. Wide, sculpted fairways encourage confident driving, while creative bunkering and beautifully contoured greens reward precise approach play. Water comes into play on several holes, especially across the closing stretch where bold shot-making can be heavily rewarded. The greens are smooth, fast and meticulously maintained, adding to the championship feel.

Druids Glen has hosted multiple major tournaments, including the Irish Open in 1996, 1997, 1998 and 1999, where champions such as Colin Montgomerie and Sergio García claimed victory. This history, combined with its conditioning and natural drama, makes it one of Ireland’s premier tournament venues.

The woodland setting provides a sense of tranquillity, with birdsong, tree-lined fairways and peaceful lakes creating a serene atmosphere throughout the round. The views of the Wicklow Mountains add to the beauty and scale of the experience.

The clubhouse and resort offer exceptional hospitality, featuring elegant dining, a relaxed bar, modern locker rooms and views over the surrounding landscape. Practice facilities include a driving range, short-game area and putting greens to ensure players are fully prepared for the round.

Druids Glen is a must-play destination for golfers visiting Ireland’s east coast — a championship course of natural charm, strategic depth and world-class presentation.
